Dell Desktop Windows 7 Physical Memory Dump, and Crashing - BSOD, Screen Freezing...

Hi,

I have a Dell Desktop running Windows 7 and it has been crashing (frozen zig zag pattern on the screen, and BSOD), or rebooting automatically over the past couple of weeks.

I thought it may be a virus, however, I have Norton Security running 24/7, and I have performed multiple full scans in recent days, but it has not found a single threat or virus. So, I am thinking that it may be a hardware and/or software problem.

I have uploaded the 2 files from the Minidump folder (48 KB zipped), and the Memory.Dmp file (130 MB zipped) from the Windows folder, onto Skydrive. Please find the links below:

*Minidump Files:

*Memory.Dmp File:

I also found 4 other dump files relating to internet explorer, in my Norton (Internet Security) directory. Please advise if I should upload them.

I would appreciate it if you could please help.

Kunal

Hi Kunal,

Welcome to Microsoft Community and thank you for posting the question. I see that you get blue screen on Windows 7 computer. Let me help you with the issue.

1.      What is the model number of the computer?

2.      Did you make any changes to the computer recently?

In order to troubleshoot this issue, let us try these methods:

Method 1.

Unplug all external devices and restart the computer to check the status.

Method 2.

I would suggest you to refer to this article to check if this helps.

Important: System Restore will not revert any of the non-system files like documents, email, music, etc. to a previous state. These types files are completely unaffected by System Restore. If your intention with this tool was to recover a deleted non-system file, try using a file recovery program instead of System Restore.

Important: While performing check disk on the hard drive, if any bad sectors are found, then check disk will try to repair that sector. Any data available on that sector might be lost.

Custom Install Disclaimer: If you don't format the hard disk during installation, data files are saved to a Windows.old folder on the partition you installed Windows 7.  However, you should still back up the files. If you have data files that are encrypted, you might not be able to access them after installing Windows 7. If you've backed up your data files and then restored them after installing Windows 7, you can delete the Windows.old folder.

I hope the above step helps. If you need further assistance on this particular issue or any other Windows related issue let us know and we will be glad to assist you.

Thank you.
