That Realtek Bluetooth driver.

I cannot install the latest update because of the problem with the driver.  The problem is I don't have Realtek Bluetooth.  I have a Broadcom usb bluetooth.  Have searched everywhere and tried all suggested options but I can't find a Realtek driver.

So I cannot update!

Hello hampton4444,

this is Roman, I'm a independent advisor.
I thing somewhere in your system is a Realtek device or driver.

Have you already checked if there is a Realtek Bluetooth devide in device manager?
You could have a look in system information and check if there is a Realtek Device visible. (Windows Key + "System information" and then select "system infromation")
Here you could expand Hardware Info and check if there's such a device.

Maybe you find the diver / device here

Please let me know if I was able to help you,
best regards,
Roman

Thanks for the reply

Have run through and within System Drivers are

Realtek Bluetooth A/V Remote Control Target

Realtek Bluetooth A/V Remote Control  Controller Device Driver

Realtek Bluetooth Filter Driver

all are manual and stopped.

That's the only Realtek Bluetooth entries I can find.  Other Realtek are audio/Lan

There is nothing in device manager to show a Realtek bluetooth device

There is nothing in Hardware Resources section

I believe that the original Bluetooth failed and the usb bluetooth device replaced it

Can I just delete the drivers?

I don't think you should delete the drivers. Do you know which Mainbord is in your system?

I have searched through the drivers folder and by looking at properties found 6  realtek bluetooth files.  I presume that one or all of these are looked at by the update and found to be old?  There doesn't appear to be anything that indicates a realtek bluetooth device

Time for bed

Will check in the morning

I had a look at your system - I also can't find any reason why the divers are there, but maybe we can approach the update problem another way:

Just for a try - can you please use the Update Troubleshooter:
Windows Key + type "trouble" and select Troubleshoot Settings. Here select windows Update and check if it can correct anything.

best regards,
Roman

Ran the troubleshooter , all ok except a problem detecting network proxy.

Ran Driver Booster and that only found the Broadcom USB.

Aside from having the drivers installed there isn't anything to say there is or was a Realtek Bluetooth device

Had a look inside the updated driver download and rtkbtfilter.sys is in it.  In System Info, that and other Realtek sys files are all stopped.  As they are stopped is it worth just renaming/moving them and trying the update again?  I don't know what the implications are but if not used and stopped?

It would be nice if MS was to say how they get the info that the driver needs updating

As I wrote before, I don't recommend renaming / moving the file because there can be side effects. (normally divers are not just files, they're also hooked in in the start up process and removing them could cause windows not to start or to autorepair.

Have you set up the following?
Control Panel / System and Security / System / Advanced system settings / Hardware / Device Installation Settings => Automatic download manufacturers apps ... (yes)
