(FIXED) Some settings may be reset to default when installing the Windows 10 Anniversary Update

Not all my settings migrated when I updated from Windows 10 version 1511 to the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607).  For example, my pen settings were reset after installing the update.  Which settings didn’t migrate and how do I get them back?

Hi,

*Updated 8/15/16*

An update was released last week that includes a fix for this issue, and the settings listed below are no longer reverting to defaults for new customers updating to Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

Original post:

We are aware of an issue that could reset a few of your personalized settings choices to their defaults.  The team is working hard to fix this as soon as possible so that future updates will not cause these settings to revert to the defaults.  If you’ve already updated to version 1607, here are some of the settings that may have been reset.  Please go to the Settings app to re-personalize any of these settings if any have changed:

  • Pen Settings.  To personalize your pen settings, go to Settings > Devices > Pen & Windows Ink.

  • Notification settings.  To personalize, go to Settings > System > Notifications & actions > Notifications.

  • Tablet Mode settings.  To personalize, go to Settings > System > Tablet Mode.

  • Virtual Desktops.  To recreate your virtual desktops, click the Task View icon on your taskbar and select Add New Desktop.

Note: (Updated 8/15/16) Use existing settings in Settings > Devices > Pen & Windows Ink to modify some OEM-specific Pen click setting customizations.

Thank You
