After installing the windows 10 update KB3201845, my computer stopped working.

A lot programs including, but not limited to, Chrome, Edge, Settings, cannot be opened. The process "Service Host: DCOM Server Process Launcher" keep using high CPU percentage.

Even I uninstalled the update, the problem is still there. What should I do?

My problems started after the November 8 update.  Computer less than 1 year old.  Dell support determined it was the operating system. After over 15 hours in one week on the phone, Dell support took it back to factory settings.  Reinstalled Windows 10.  Computer worked a few hours.  The next day kept getting 2 alternating screens flashing back & forth about every second.  Black screen to blue with only icons on left and back to black to blue etc.  Dell was going to cancel automatic updates but I just got the flashing screens.  Finally Dell made arrangements to send it back to their factory.  They got it 2 days ago.  Problems seems to be with Windows updates.  Since I currently don't have the computer, I don't know the code for the update in November.  Why didn't Microsoft use a beta version before releasing Win 10?

Having the same problem here. unable to do anything to rectify the issue, cannot even open an elevated command prompt, unable to remove the update as i cannot open settings, Eventually had to do a disk restore to get the PC back to how it was before the update.

Have now managed to defer the update.

I've passed two hours with a microsoft techinician in remote connection, and he can't solved the problems. I tried a system recovery from usb, but the problems remain.

When I try to open a program that require  administrator permission doesn't appear the windows where you click yes or no.    Do you have this problem too?

In the past I have seen Microsoft tech's or other experts monitor the forums.  They usually give excellent advice.  Where are they now?

Hey guys, thanks for all your replies.

I think actually any programs using internet connection stopped working after the update. Also, after I uninstalled the KB3201845 update, I found that there was another windows update that was installed on the same day. I forgot to write down the update ID and I can only remember that it was a windows security update. So I uninstalled that update as well, and my computer was still dead.

I have another user account on this computer. I logged in with the other account and the computer works normally. So the problem only affect my main user account. Maybe some programs in my main account are not compatible with the updates.

I eventually reset my PC using the other account. My computer became functional after that, however, as you know, I have to reinstall every program that I use and to pray the same problem won't happen again. It's so sad that the **** updates cost me so much time! I will probably get a Mac as my next computer!

I am in the same situation, been trying to sort this since 10am starting to get to me now, i do this sort of thing all week don't want to do it at the weekend as well especially unpaid......

I can confirm your findings that login in with a different account seems to not have the issue, i created a new account with admin rights and logged in as that user and it did not have the problem, also safe mode is unaffected as well.

I am now in the process of copying my profile to another drive, I will then remove my profile from the machine and recreate it to see if this works.

should not have to do this, and i cannot believe that they have released an update that is so bad.

We have a laptop in the house that is unaffected by the update so it has got to be a program that it is unhappy with.
