Error: "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG" while trying to connect 4G router on Windows 10

Original title: 4G Router not connecting

Dear Members ,

I am facing issue while connecting surface pro 3 to airtel 4g hotspot router .The problem shown is one of protocol missing and in detail it says registry file missing which is as below :-

This site can’t be reached

accounts.google.com’s server DNS address could not be found.

Try:

  • Reloading the page
  • Checking the proxy, firewall, and DNS configuration
DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG

Windows Sockets registry entries required for network connectivity are missing.

Hello Chetan,

As you are facing issues with connection and accessing the router on your system, we will help you with this issue.

This issues might have occurred due to outdated/ corrupted Network Adapter drivers or missing internet services on your device.

Let us try the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: Try to clear the DNS cache.

  1. Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
  2. Right-click cmd in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue. 
  3. At the command prompt, type the following line, and then press ENTER:
  • ipconfig /flushdns <PRESS ENTER>
  • ipconfig /release <PRESS ENTER>
  • ipconfig /renew <PRESS ENTER>

This usually clears up any issues that might be occurring.

Reboot your PC and try to connect to the internet through the troubled apps again.

   

Step 2: Run Network Adapter troubleshooter

Network Adapter troubleshooter find and fix the problems with wireless and other Network Adapter.

  1. Click on Start; in the start search type Troubleshooter and hit Enter.
  2. In the left pane, click on View all.
  3. Click on Network Adapter Troubleshooter.
  4. Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the troubleshooting process.

If the issue still persists then,

Step 3: Check the following services are enabled. 

  1. Press Windows Key + R on the keyboard and type services.msc, Services window gets opened.
  2. Check if these services are enabled: 
    - TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper service 
    - Wireless lan 
    - DHCP 
    - DNS Client 
    - Function Discovery Resource Publication 
    - SSDP Discovery - UPnP Device Host 
  3. To start the service and set it to automatic, follow these steps: 
  • Right-click each of the services listed above and click on Properties

  • Click the General tab, and then, next to Startup type, select Automatic

  • Click Apply, and then click Start

Restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
