Tadasha,

Dhirendra already said he tried that in his original post.

I also have the same issue on my Surface Pro. So much for supporting Microsoft!

Windows 8.1, access the App store, being told to reload Windows!

I run the powershell command in the link above and get the same result:

C:\windows\system32>powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -Di
sableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.XML
Add-AppxPackage : Deployment failed with HRESULT: 0x80073CFE, The package
repository is corrupted.

hi Tadasha,

There is only one solution of this problem, you have to re-install windows 8.1 pro.

I face this problem since last 2 month and tried every things available on Microsoft solutions site, even I called up toll free number of Microsoft also, but nothing help to solve this problem.

at last I download and create image disk of windows 8.1 pro and reinstall windows 8.1.

Now my windows8.1 pro running very well. so don't bother and don't west your valuable time and go for re-install windows 8.1.

Hi,

Thank you for the reply. If you come across and store app related issues in future, refer to the following link.

"Refer to the following link"....!

What's that got to do with this problem?

That Rollup update fixes 4 issues with the windows store, and if you read the detail, not one of them comes even close to the issue Jon Obrien, I and others are having.

Which to clarify, is getting error  0x80073CFE when trying to re-register the Windows Store after it has apparently broken after upgrading to 8.1

So please when responding, do make sure you actually read the posts.

Well I'm certainly not reinstalling Windows just so I can get the Windows Store to work. I guess I'll just have to use Play or App Store on my other devices and see if they want my money instead......

Thanks,

Thanks for getting back to me.

But according to your own documentation

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/hh973484%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

0x80073CFE indicates that package repository is corrupted.

You are probably referring to 0x80072EFE.

Although I don't think I should be pointing this out to a "Microsoft Support Engineer"
