skype for win10 how to stop it auto-re-installing!

If I uninstall Skype and reboot, it is automatically re-installed and restarted. I do not want this. Is there any way I can stop this behaviour please?  I prefer version 8.30 (32bit) that allows me to have control as to when it is running.  Can you help please?
How did you originally uninstall it? Did you use the following method?

Press Windows Key+X
Click Windows Powershell (Admin)

Enter the following command then hit Enter

Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.SkypeApp | Remove-AppxPackage

Because its part of Windows 10, Microsoft will reinstall it automatically. But if you are running Windows 10, Microsoft now syncs the built in Skype to version 8.30. So, you should Skype 8.30 by default. I updated recently and thats what I have running on Windows 10 by default.

Peter, I didn't get a suitable response to my question about how you uninstalled Skype. Also, Microsoft approach to applications and services such as Skype is to have the latest versions installed.

I recommend you go back to the classic version, since a lot of the functionality in Skype 8 is still maturing.

Microsoft has listened to customer feedback and is allowing users who are comfortable with Skype Classic to continue use it for the foreseeable future until all the issues in Skype 8 are sorted out.

The new Skype is very new and lacking certain features and functionality. You should file this as a bug report, remove Skype 8.25 then reinstall the classic version.

Please follow the steps below on how to download the classic Skype.

Skype is currently in a period of transition and I guess the idea is for Microsoft to invest in restoring functionality 'overtime' it needs to at least get everyone on the newer releases. Skype is being rebuilt from the ground up and this is to ensure features are cross platform (Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS, Android) and are truly in sync when launched.

As you might know, engineering resources are always limited; especially to maintain two platforms. Microsoft's future is beyond win32 which classic Skype is built on.

Its just that its a rough transition that is under way. What I suspect will happen, starting September, we are gonna start seeing rapid updates with features available at least once or twice per week.

Thanks for swift reply. Originally all I had was Skype V12. I do not like this version so I downloaded and installed Skype V8.30. I then tried to get rid of V12 and it will uninstall, BUT will re-install on next reboot.  It always re-installs V12 - I would love it if it would install V8.30!!!  Is there any way to force it to re-install V8.30 as you say has recently happened for you?  Windows Updates shows the machine as "Up to date".

Which version of Windows 10 is currently installed? See how to verify:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wik...

I am running Windows 10 1803 build 17134 and I got it a regular update through app store.

Skype 12 was a variant of Skype just for Windows 10. But the engineers realized it lacked too many features and back tracked and is now rolling out 8.30 to Windows 10. So, maybe you just have to wait a little bit to get it.

I am on windows 10  version 1803 OS build 17134.286. So should be just about as up to date as possible.

I uninstalled Skype by going to Apps and Features, right click the app and select uninstall.  I will wait and see what happens, but my feeling is that it won't change!  Many thanks for taking the time to respond.  Regards, Pete.

Currently, Skype 14.X version is only available for users participating in the Insider programme  and perhaps for some Surface pro users. For "normal" users, only the 12.X version is still available yet.
