Why do my Excel files become huge?

Twice in the past few days, I've been working on "normal" size Excel files, and then realized that everything was becoming very sluggish.

I saved the files, which took a very long time. One file had become 35 MB, and the other one had become 4+ MB. I found one of my tabs where a control-End took me way down deep in the sheet - not to the far lower right, but to cell AI 1048554.

What am I doing wrong? Why would this happen to me twice within a few days?

What's the best way to fix it?

Thansk.

Answer

Hi,

Try this

1. Identify the last filled up row of data and click on any cell in one row below that

2. Select from that row till the end and delete all rows

3. Do the same for columns

4. Save and close the file

5. Shut down MS Excel

6. Reopen the file

Does this solve the problem?
