Font Size in VBA Editor

I am trying to increase the font size in the VBA Editor for Excel.  I have a Dell XPS 15 with a 4K screen.  I have researched this and it seems that there is a problem with high resolution screens and the Editor. The font is very small and then having grey letters on a white background makes for little contrast.  Has anyone come up with a solution that does not involve changing to a low resolution and restarting the Windows session?

Thanks,

-Vernon

In the Visual Basic Editor, select Tools > Options...

Activate the Editor Format tab.

You can change the font, font color and font size here. Consolas is a fixed-width font that is a bit more robust than the default Courier New. Play around with the font size.

Hans,

Thanks for the reply.  My problem is not how to change the font size, it is how to get the font size to actually change.  If I change the default size from 9 point to 12 point, it shows the new size in the demonstration box, but has no effect on the actual editor. If you reopen the Font Dialogue Box it will show the size still at 9 point.  However, if I change the resolution from 4K to Full HD (1920x1080) the change in the font size seems to occur without issue.  But once I change the resolution back to 4K, the font size reverts back to 9 point.  In my web research of the issue, it says that the VBA editor has problem with higher resolution monitors.  However, it also says that Microsoft fixed it in late 2017.  I am using the latest version of Office 365 and I am still having the issue.  I hope this clarifies the issue I am having with the font size in the VBA Editor.

Regards,

-Vernon

Thanks, I remember having read about this problem now. Some users report that they can change the font size if they set the font scaling zoom factor (dpi) to the value recommended by Microsoft, and that it will remain set if they then change font scaling zoom factor back to the original value...

I am not sure that this is the value recommended by MIcrosoft, but the 4K setting says recommended and the Scaling Factor is set to 250% and it also says recommended.  Up to now the only way that I have found to make this work is to reduce the resolution.  It works, but kind of defeats the purpose of the higher resolution monitor.  Any other ideas?

Thanks,

-Vernon

I have the same problem that one can not increase the font size of VBA editor when using 4k laptop so as to be able to read the text on screen. Q1: How does one get Microsoft to correct this defect? It is a defect not a lack of knowledge of how one is supposed to be able to increase font size. Q2: Is there a work around?  Q3: Is no one else using VBA on 4K laptop? Q4: How can Microsoft let VBA die like this?

Miacud,

This is a known issue. Currently there is no fix. The only work around is to reduce your screen resolution to Full HD (1920x1080). It then seems to work. This issue has existed for awhile. Hopefully Mucrosoft will fix it soon.

Zoom on Excel workbook works fine for workbooks, but that is not the problem. The problem, not yet repaired by Microsoft, is with the editor for programing Office (Excel, Access database, etc.) using VBA (Visual Basic for Applications (which is the programing language provided by Microsoft as part of Office). I have tried every work around I have seen from Google searches, and nothing works to permit increasing the editor font size above 8. There is no zoom facility for the VBA editor. If there were, that would be wonderful. If Microsoft would either (a) fix the defect of not being able to increase the font size (which worked fine in the past) or (b) add a zoom feature to the editor, that would fix the complete loss of functionality of programing in VBA which occurs because I can no longer read the tiny size 8 text. I wonder why Microsoft is failing to repair this long term know problem with the editor for its fabulous VBA programing language.
