Change Registered Company Name Office 2011 for mac

How can I change/remove the Registration Company Name from Office 2011 for Mac? I am not certain where the information was pulled from and I have purchased a license for the installed software so I am not sure why my company name is showing up unless that information was pulled from my address book? Regardless I need to remove the company name. Please help. When I view support article regarding this it shows at top of article that the steps are not applicable to my Mac OS which is OSX 10.7.3 Lion...

I'm not sure which article you're referencing but all Microsoft knowledge base articles say that when connecting from a non-Windows computer. It's a stupid stupid oversight on Microsoft's part.

This is a short and sweet way of changing the information:
  1. Quit all Office 2011 applications.
  2. Open the Terminal application found in /Applications/Utilities/.
  3. To change the user name type: defaults write com.microsoft.com 14\\UserInfo\\UserName "Your Name"
  4. To change the company name type: defaults write com.microsoft.com 14\\UserInfo\\UserOrganization "Company Name"

Hit the return key after each each command.

Hope this helps!

Can you confirm if these are the commands for Lion, OSX v10.7.3? I have tried them both without success.... To Confirm, there is a space between UserOrganization and "Company Name" and the "marks" should be typed as part of the command? I have tried all formats I believe...

This will work on most Mac OS X systems including 10.7 systems. If
you're not doing so be sure to copy/paste the commands. Also, be sure
you are using two backslashes where used and not just one. Yes, you must
use the quote marks if your company or name includes a space.

These commands will not change the information for every user of a
machine. They will only change the information for the current user. You
do not need to include anything like "sudo" and do not need to run these
as an administrator.

Finally, be sure you do this while no Office application is running.

Hope this helps!

Which step was not accepted? Did you get an error message? What did it say? What exactly happened when you tried the step?
Be sure to include the version number and OS version when asking your question.

That should read:

defaults write ~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.office "14\\UserInfo\\UserName" "Full Name"

defaults write ~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.office "14\\UserInfo\\UserOrganisation" "Company Name"

Just a small typo with the plist file name. It is com.microsoft.office not com.microsoft.com

The company name preference appears to be "UserOrganization"..at least in my copy.  So...

defaults write ~/Library/Preferences/com.microsoft.office "14\\UserInfo\\UserOrganization" "Company Name"

Open Word go to:
  1. Preferences.
  2. User info.
  3. If the company name is listed remove it.

Get out of preferences when Finished. If not there it put in during the first install and one of the MVP will have to tell you how to open the the registration files and remove the desired information. That is above my expertise and I would not be comfortable telling someone how to alter this done wrong means complete removal and reinstall of application.
