Lenovo trackpoint scroll not working in metro apps

Title says all.  Windows 10 build 10074.  The Lenovo Trackpoint driver is loaded and appears as a tab in the Mouse settings in Control Panel (it was automatically installed by Windows update, not by me).  The Trackpoint center button scroll on my Thinkpad X61s works fine in standard desktop programs as well as the control panel.  But while the scroll icon appears when I press the center button and try to scroll, it will not actually scroll metro apps, the start menu or any settings app that was re-written as a metro app.

I'm on 10074 but it has been like this since the first build.  I keep waiting for them to fix it but I am losing hope.  This is a deal breaker if W10 never gets this fixed.

Anyone have a workaround?

Paul

Yes I am aware that Windows 10 TP is still in development.  It is just worrisome that I have been reporting it in the feedback system (several times) since day one and it still doesn't seem to be on anyone's radar.

Since it only affects metro apps and I have no use for metro apps, I could just ignore it.  But unfortunately MS is converting important functions like settings and the start menu to metro apps, so I can't ignore it.

I hope MS doesn't just blow this off because the Thinkpad series of laptops with Trackpoints is old technology.  This is a serious compatibility issue.

The trackpoint driver also does not work in the Spartan Web Browser though the cursor does change to the correct one when clicking the middle button . It works fine in IE 11 and any classic window with a scroll bar. I'm using a wired Lenovo compact USB keyboard with trackpoint with the correct drivers installed (External Keyboard appears as an additional tab under Mouse Properties).

Hi Bosticman,

Sorry for the delay in replying.

Your efforts to work on this issue is very much appreciated.

I would like to let you know that very recently there is a new build 10074 released. I recommend you to install this latest build through the Windows Updates and restart the computer to check if the issue persists.

New Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 10074 now available: http://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwindows/2015/04/29/new-windows-10-insider-preview-build-10074-now-available/

I don't know about bosticman but I am running 10074 and the Trackpoint scroll DOES NOT work in any Metro apps including the start menu, the feedback app and the settings menu.  In fact, as I stated in my first post, it has not worked EVER in ANY build of Windows 10 TP up to and including the current 10074.  The cursor changes to the scroll cursor when the center button is pressed but the scroll does not work.  It works correctly in non-Metro apps.

Paul has summed it up perfectly. I'm seeing the exact same results just as he stated. Any build of Windows 10 including the current 10074. Doesn't matter if it was an upgrade from a previous build or a clean install of 10074. The cursor changes but does not scroll with the center button in any Metro style app. This is the case on a variety of hardware I've installed Windows 10 on, Dell T3610, T1600 workstations, E6540 laptop, even a Lenovo desktop. The correct drivers are installed, in fact even before Windows 10 was finished installing I was prompted if I wanted to install the drivers now or later.

I've been using keyboards with Trackpoints for many years and use the center scroll constantly throughout the day.

I don't mean to be rude, but did you read my #2 post?  I quote:

I've been using the feedback system as well since I installed the first available version of Windows 10 Preview. As more and more applications and core programs get the Metro treatment, it's vitally important that the features mirror what is already present in the traditional applications. I use the trackpoint scrolling with the middle button constantly throughout my workday.

So I booted up a desktop that had been powered off for a few days into Windows 10 10074. I noticed the drivers for the Lenovo keyboard were no longer present but I did not remove the software from the Programs and Features icon in the Control Panel. Somehow they were removed, but when searching through the registry I could still find entries from Lenovo for them. Anyhow, with the drivers removed, the scrolling does work in the Metro Apps and Spartan/Edge web browser. The cursor icon does not change at all but the center button does scroll.
