WTH!?!?! new update wont let me play halo reach!

uumm that makes me think that you had a pirated copy.

my copy works fine cause i played it after i got the update.

nah i dont have a pirated copy. my system had a red ring after the update came in . i turned it back on and it applied the update twice or something like that. now it wont let me play my games that require a disc. i downloaded gears 2 from live market and it plays just find

i cant seem to get rid of the update so i can try to download it again. crap

The update released yesterday allowed for developers to store more memory on their game discs. The update was for the disc reader to be able to read the newest type of game disc. They said that a small amount of Xbox 360's would be negatively affected by not supporting the new update, mainly due to old hardware. They said whoever this was the case for, they'd send you a FREE 250 GB Xbox 360S for the inconvenience. CONTACT MICROSOFT SUPPORT!

yeah i registered my console. its still under warranty so i'm sending it in. it'll be free except for the whole month i'm going to have to wait to get it back. crap

i'm just surprised that the new xbox 360 slims that came out last june are even affected by this problem. you would think that the new dvd drives that they have in them would not be affected by this update, but just goes to show you how wrong i am...and it WAS a firmware update to the dvd drives too. so that makes sense...i guess

Oh so you already have a new 360S? I got the last one of the first shipment to my town (and at least a 100 mile radius around my town) last summer. Mine wasn't affected though. I figured it would've only been old models. Odd. But yeah. I don't think it matters whether it's under warranty or not. I read somewhere they're going to give you a free year of XBL too. I can't find that article for the life of me though.

ehh. the update is causing problems for a lot of people. for some people it screws their ability to get online. for others it screws with the dvd player built into the xbox. others may experience problems that i haven't heard of yet...

like i said...my  360 is still under warranty too. till june 18th. but microsoft is replacing all the xboxes affected by this current annoyance. you are lucky that yours didn't fall  prey to this update.
