Trading games in for Dragon Age

Summer is starting and I've gotten kind of bored with shooters and was interested in buying Dragon Age Origins with all the DLC. $45 isnt a bad price but im broke and have to resort to trading in games. I have a powerplay card with gamestop and get the 10% bonuses.

The games I have to trade in are-

Portal2, Fallout New Vegas, Red Dead Redemption, Modern Warfare 2, Bioshock 2, Gears of War 2, CoD World At War

Im pretty sure i could ge enough to get the $45 and dont play these games too much anymore. Long story short, is it worth it?

Trade in the CoDs as well as GoW 2. Go mow a lawn or give somebody a bath and raise money for the difference. DA: O is incredible, you won't regret it

Great game. I'm replaying it as I speak. Trying out a mage build and it kicks some serious @@@. but if it was me I'd save my games. I"m the kinda gamer that always goes back to old games and ends up playing through them multiple times. but Origins is a good pick! Enjoy it!

DA:O is a great game, finished it a couple of weeks ago myself.

Has enough replay value for at least 2 or 3 playthroughs.

DA:O is supposed to be very good. But, I recommend a demo if you know somebody that has it. Ask them if you can play it for a little while.

Yeah, I actually agree that you should play it first if you're not used to the genre.  I personally suck at the game.  I like it, but I hate all the stories (just overloaded with dialog to the point where I just hit X X X X X X X).  And the combat is pretty difficult unless you know how to micromanage.  Always go for Area of Effect spells.

I own Origins for both the 360 and PC. If it is an option for you I would go for the PC version simply because being able to pull the camera out to an isometric viewpoint makes managing fights much easier.

Anyone think Dragon Age 2 is worth it? I hear from my friends that it is a true abomination from the womb of a succubus. But idk.... lol It does look kinda less RPGish

[/quote]Dragon Age II did have the same thing done to it that hit Mass Effect 2. In that the character customisation was reduced for all the party members to just the weapons and in one case not even that.

Combat is night on identical to the first game though, especially now that auto-attack has been patched back in. It does have the annoying problem of losing your target after knocking that enemy back.

Story is disjointed but the characters are well fleshed out and voiced.

This is a fantastic point. I played Origins a couple of times on my xbox, and it was great.  I then gave it a try on my PC. It completely blew me away to be honest. Origins is just in another league on the PC.  Again, I enjoyed the xbox version, very good. PC is just another level though.  Also you have all the Mods n stuff to play with, so that opened up another avenue of enjoyment for me.  I have more hours invested in the DA universe, than any other game.

I liked the camera, and I also liked the ability to place my squadmates, made the high difficulties a bit easier.

PC or Xbox though, DA is one of the best game franchise's around for me.

I wouldnt go that far, and it is certainly still an RPG.  A couple of elements have been stripped down. The game has flaws, but which game doesnt?  Origins was full of them, but is still one of the best games I have ever played.  There is a demo out for DA2. Give it a go, if you like the combat etc, then go for it.

There is no major penalty for buying the game used, and ive seen the standard edition for as low as £10.  New, off the net, probably not much more. How can you go wrong with that?
