Martyr Shepard

Not to impugn on your ideas and such, but Shepard and company are already sacrificing themselves for the greater good. Not only for humanity's sake but for all sentient live in the universe. Besides, the Collectors are not interested in a barter or truce, since total annihilation of all sentient life is their main agenda, as it has been for a millennia.

Commander Shepard confronted Vigil as to why a truce between the Reapers and the Protheans wasn't expressed, to which Vigil clearly stated that the reapers were not interested in one.

However, your idea in another context- where if Shepard's company were to trick the Collectors on Shepard's sacrifice- would make for an interesting play. :D

Who's to say that the reapers are the bad guys in this story...We could be the metaphorical kids in their yard...who are we to judge the motives of this sentient god/machine race...its the people of the universes duty to submit to and feed the reapers drive...The protheans were just the rebelious teenagers of their time and shepard should not continue to fuel the fear filled campaign that is the end of life as they know it.....

True enough... and if what you surmise is a twist in the plot for things to come, I'd be staring at my TV screen with mouth agape and jaw dropped to the floor, in bewilderment. All in a good way of course. An interesting prospect you've brought up, I'm now intrigued. :D

Just saying if Shepard sacrificed himself how would there be a ME3 because they brought him back to life with his old body's DNA n tissue n etc. but also in ME1 didn't they basically say that the reapers do this because they just wanna kill n enslave people? I dont quite remember the ending tho

Shepard doesn't need to sacrifice him/herself to save all of their teammates, they just have to be a badass (check)

I hope Shepard dies at the end of ME3, it would be more appropriate than him/her living through 3 suicide missions. Plus it would wrap up the story, that a few must be sacrificed for the good of many. They should also make another series based on the Mass Effect universe, its just too amazing and deep to just see from one point of view. Maybe a MMORPG?

My Shepard isn't dying in battle. She's going to die lying in a bed as a very old woman, surrounded by Liara and all their little blue children.
