Recovering a gamertag that is tied to a closed Live ID.

Hi all,

I have a gamertag that I want to recover onto my new 360, but the Windows Live ID that is tied to that gamertag is no longer active, so I cannot simply log in and recover the gamertag.

I phoned XBOX LIVE support and because I had no credit card on file or a security question set up on the old account, they cannot verify my identity other than my name, phone number, and ZIP Code / Postal Code.

Is there any other way I can verify my identity, say, like emailing or faxing proof of my identity like a driver's licence or birth certificate so they can access my old gamertag and transfer it to my new Live ID?
