LOCKED - I can't remove my payment option

if you have that error and are suspended for payment option

you need to add a creditcard to pay off the balance

you can check billing.microsoft.com to see what balance is owed

after that you can remove the card

that's the thing though, i'm not suspended for insufficient funds or anything. i was at one point several months back, but i don't know why it still thinks it has an outstanding balance on the card.

it sounds like you have an "outstanding balance exists on this payment instrument" and should probably call cs and pay your bill. then when you pay what you owe, cs can cancel the subscription and remove the credit card for you.

i already paid, hence why i'm a Gold member right now. i had a prepaid gift card which ran out of money and i got suspended. once i put my new card on, i was released from my suspension & my prepaid gift card automatically removed itself from my account.

Yes but if the gift creditcard does not have funds and the account renews your account goes into suspension again

right...i get that...but the new card i put on my account is a credit card, not a prepaid card. i pay my bills on time, no outstanding balances of any kind. so, it shouldn't be giving me this error.

you cannot remove a credit card from an active gold subscription. the only thing you can do if you really want this done now is call cs and ask them to cancel your subscription and remove your credit card.

oh really? that's weird, because i remember having a credit card on my account about a year ago, and once i bought some membership, i was able to remove my card on xbox.com.

i guess they want us to call cs now. that's kinda lame.  :/

To check if you have a billing suspension, just go to https://billing.microsoft.com.

nope, not on a billing suspension. my gold subscription is active.
