Death threat over Xbox Live

He has also now been blocked. I have blocked communication with this person and also placed a call into Xbox Live.

Hopefully he's wrong and Microsoft finally does something about these kinds of people. I've heard waaaay too many complaints in this vein these days; even just today another discussion of this sort posted here. It's ridiculous what kind of people are allowed to use the service with almost no monitoring whatsoever.

Did you save the messages as proof of the attack?

I just want to give you heads up

Microsoft does take action on this and voice data is always recorded.

So if you file complaint they WILL look into it.

It may not seem like they are not doing anything, but they are and it all gets collected.

But the heads up part

NEVER Respond to a text message or voice message that seems suspicious or is bad, as once you send them a reply back some of these have access to your account, once they get that message received to them.

This is how they are hacking peoples accounts on Saints Row 1 & 2, Modern Warfare and MW2

They did it on few other games, but its a underground tool they use, not to sure what it is - but they can access your information and recover your account

These clowns are trying to get a rise out of you, not to make light of a threat, but don't give 'em the reaction they're trying to get out of you.  Use the mute button and ignore them and they will disappear, the beauty of XBOXLive is that you can take 'em out on the battlefield, happy gaming...:-)

Thank you all for the comments and replies :) I took the proper actions and blocked this user and saved the voice messages and filed complaints on each. I also took an extra step to call 1-800-4MY-XBOX and spoke with a representative about this issue. I am -very- used to hearing rude remarks and comments based on the fact that I am a female. I have the same routine to mute and block the users.. but it's getting to be a bit much. I pay a yearly subscription to be able to use Xbox Live, just like every other gamer.. I am sure there are countless amounts of male players who do not come across the same things most girls do. I am not filing against this player to whine because "Oh, I am a girl and boys are saying mean things.." that's not it at all. I can handle myself while playing, but this was the first time someone has ever, even if a joke, made a comment to threaten my life. It's a game, and he took it waaaay too far.

Was he 5? Most of those guys are about 5. No matter his age though the things he did were wrong and I hope he is brought to justice.

There is a website run by female gamers where they list and post the offensive/sexist messages received online.  I wish i could remember the name of the site but KOTAKU has done a couple stories on them.  It may be worth search on Kotaku's site for the link.  If you have saved any of the messages, post them there.  

My suggestion is to try and find other female gamers. There are multiple clans/groups/teams that are dedicated to a female only environment. Try looking on the xbox.com forums, or any other gaming related websites that you enjoy.

My fiance and I both play with a similar core group of people, and they mostly consist of males. I have played before with female gamers.. and I am not that much of a fan. Though, there have been a few I have come across that are enjoyable to play with, I know that who I have on my friends list are people I enjoy. I am not trying to play with females only, because I don't want to cut myself off from other people to play with.

Like I said in my earlier posts, I can handle the typical comments from male gamers. The "go make me a sandwhich" "Girls shouldn't be on Xbox" "Aren't you supposed to go have a baby and be barefoot in the kitchen" all of that, and it's to the point now where I say nothing, literally whoop their behinds in a round and then comment, "Awww, bet you wish I was in the kitchen now, don't you?"

But for someone to take it to the degree that they did to actually threaten my life. It's a GAME. That was waaaay too far for me. I have never come across someone like that on Xbox in my life, and that truly is saying something.

That's ok, it was only an idea. :)  But I understand, nobody should be treated that way, no matter what gender they are...as well as race, nationality or orientation one might be. It's ashame we have to still play in an environment where this kind of stuff goes on.

If you encounter anyone like this again, the best thing (as you know) you can do is file a complaint, and mute/block the person. Good luck in the future! ;)
