cant connect help please now

hi all i just went on my xbox account online and hooked up to get xbox live & paid for it but didnt realise it was on an old gamertag i havent used for a few years the last time i went on this account was to register a repair, now trying to sign in using current gamertag and when i enter email, password it says this email is registered to another gamertag. how can i resolve this? many thanks in advance for any help offered..............

Here's some information on managing your Live ID via the web. If that doesn't resolve your issue, you'll want to call phone support for further assistance at 800-4MY-XBOX.
