Can't join an Xbox One family

I recently bought an Xbox One and found out I had restrictions because my account was registered as a teens account. To change this I tried to join a family with an adult account which would be able to change my settings, however, I can't join a family because I'm already part of one, even though I don't know the account who's family I am part of. Because I'm not an adult account I can't leave the family, so I'm stuck in a random family with an account that doesn't belong to anyone. Is there anything I can do to leave this family?

Hi The Moob Milker,

Sorry you're having issues with your account. When your account was created if it was under the age of an adult, then your parent had to have associated your account with theirs for management. First, have your parent try their accounts here to see which account oversees your account. Then have your parent sign in and do the following to set appropriate permissions here.

Change the default privacy and online safety settings on Xbox One

To change the default privacy and online safety settings on your Xbox One, take the following steps:

  1. Go to the Home screen.
  2. Press the Menu button on the controller
  3. Select Settings

Note You can say “Xbox, go to settings” directly from any screen, but you will need a controller once you’re on the Settings screen.

  1. Select Privacy & online safety.
  1. Once on the Privacy & online safety screen, you can adjust the settings for you and the children in your family. For more information, see Manage Xbox One privacy and online safety and child accounts.
