Change the default profile for unidentified networks through the registry.
Hi, I've recently installed a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium. Recently I've attempted to share files over a computer to computer network without a router. I've run into problems with this however, because Windows will just recognize this as an unidentified
network, set its profile to public and disable sharing. I'm aware that the default profile is changeable through the Local Security Policy editor, but being on Home, I'm unable to access that, so my question is this:
Is there a way to change the network profile settings for unidentified networks in any way besides the local security policy editor? (through the registry?)
In this registry path, click the (GUID) subkey that corresponds to the network adapter that is connected to the network.
3.On the Edit menu, point to New , and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value .
4.In the New Value #1 box, type DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle , and then press ENTER.
5.Right-click DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle , and then click Modify .
6.In the Value data box, type 1 , and then click OK .
7.Close Registry Editor.
