Computer lagging after Windows 10 upgrade

Hello all!

I just upgraded to Windows 10. I have a Toshiba Satellite c855, core i3, 6 gigs of RAM. Before doing the upgrade, my computer was working fine, but now it is laggy, for example. If I'm playing my music, I can hear it getting stuck for a second and then it keeps playing normal for like 5 secs, and then it does the same. It's not only with while playing music. I noticed that also when I'm working on my computer, it kind of freezes for a second and so on. I already tried updating my audio/video drivers, but nothing seems to solve my issue. What can I do? Please, let me know!

Thanks!

Hello José,

Thank you for posting your question on Microsoft community.

I appreciate you for providing details about the issue and your efforts towards resolving it.

This issue may occur either due to software conflicts or due to presence of unused files or programs in Windows.

I would suggest you to run system maintenance troubleshooter and check if it helps. Please follow these steps:

a. Type troubleshooting in the search box on taskbar.
b. Click troubleshooting in the search results.
c. Click "View all" and then click "System Maintenance".
d. Click "Next" and follow on-screen instructions.

If it does not help, then perform clean boot and check.
Refer this article:
How to perform a clean boot in Windows
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

(Also holds good for Windows 10)

Note: After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps from section “How to reset the computer to start as usual after clean boot troubleshooting” to reset the computer to start as usual.

I hope this information helps.

Please do let us know if you need any further assistance.

Thank you

How did you upgrade?

I have a C855 and I have reserved the upgrade via Get Windows 10 app a few weeks ago.  As of today the status still shows something like we are working with partners to get the upgrade ready.

Toshiba's website has a list of models ready for upgrade, but C855 is not on the list.  It also says models not listed do not support an upgrade to Windows 10.  Not sure when/if C855 will be included.

Update: 10/8/2015:

Tow months later, I'm still waiting for the update.  Checked the list and C855 is not on it.

Hello, Kingdomer,

Thanks for your answer. I also reserved my upgrade using the Windows 10 app in my task bar. I'll keep waiting to see if this changes because my laptop is still acting up.

Hello, Ratandeep,

Thanks for the advice. I did the troubleshoot already but nothing changed. I have an external audio controller, it is an Mbox mini, which I use to run Pro Tools (a music production software) It connects via usb, and controls the audio. I noticed that when it is plugged in, audio works just fine, but if I disconnect it, then my computer start acting up. It is like it freezes for a second, and then it keeps working, kind of intermittent workflow, if that makes sense at all. Checked on the Mbox site, and drivers are up to date. So I don't think is that. Any other suggestion?

Thanks a lot (again) for your help!
