DELETE ALL RECENT WORD AND EXCEL FILES ON A MAC

I am trying to find out how to delete ALL recent files on Word and Excel.  I can only see how to delete individual files but I want the whole history cleared. I am sure this used to be available on Office 365 for Mac but I have tried everything, searched forums and only find replies from 2016.  How can I do this?

Hi JacquieCC,

 

It is not feasible to clear Recent list on Word 2016 for Mac or Excel 2016 for Mac.

We can only delete the items one by one.
