Error 1706 when installing office 2010 from download

I get an Error 1706 when installing office 2010 from download. The download seemed to finish OK so no idea how to fix this.

Ensure on other version of Microsoft Office is currently installed on the computer. Uninstall it using Add / Remove Programs from Control Panel if it’s installed.

 

If the uninstall fails use the 'Fix-It' tools availablehere to remove the required version of Microsoft from the computer and then try to install Office 2010.
