whenever I play skyrim, the picture cuts off on the bottom and sides, making it hard to read notifications on the left of the screen, such as what the effects of certain potion ingredients were. I checked the settings and there was nothing to adjust the picture. I really need help with this.

Hey Evil, sorry to hear about the video cutoff! Do you have issues with any other games? Also, have you tried cycling through the video setting options in the settings hub? if you're not sure now, let us know, and we'll be glad to give you a walkthrough. :-)

I just figured this same problem out with my own tv. I finally realized I hadn't been playing in 720p and when i switched it this same image cutoff problem appeared. What I had done was switched my tv's picture mode from "normal" to "16:9" so that everything filled the screen even if i was using something that wasn't hd prepared like an old dvd player etc. When i switched my tv from "16:9" to "normal" like it was when it came out of the box the problem disappeared. Check your tv settings for similar options. Once you have change the "picture mode" (as it was called on my tv) to the proper setting, go into your xbox settings and set them to what you want (although your xbox settings are likely already correct or else you wouldn't be having this problem at all) and you shouldn't have any more issues.
