Forza 5 Time Dilation?

has anyone else noticed how the game seems to slow down and speed up in the middle of playing?

at first i thought it was lag because it was only happening online, but then i noticed a pattern. it would always do it at the same place on the track. for instance, it's the worst when coming around the sharp corner before the long straight on the yas marina track (the full track), or while rounding the bend to get on the straight on Le Mans. but it happens on all the tracks to a certain degree, but seems to be the worst when a large portion of the track comes into your field of view whether you're close enough to actually see it or not.

has anyone else experienced this? i think it gets worse the bigger the track gets, is it the rendering that's slowing it down? is it slowing the game down rather than slowing down the 60fps? once the slow motion stops, my car then will rocket at light speed up to where it's supposed to be.

In any case, this dramatic change in perceived speed is making it really difficult to manage a car through corners in a fluid motion.

any help or suggestions?

I haven't noticed any of this.

Although I've never played the game online yet. Maybe it is some kind of lag

I haven't seen this either in either SP or MP modes and played most days since launch and been on all tracks.

how can it be lag if it happens at the same turns at the same point every time? unless... i guess it could be lag if it's the other racers coming into my field of view and not the track. we were playing with just the 2 of us and 14 bots in a 3 class race. (yes one class is all AI to simulate traffic)

even still, assuming it could be lag, why is affecting my perception of the game? i shouldn't be able to see my car fluctuate it's speed that rapidly and dart around, i should instead see the other cars darting around? right?

Hey Jeep.

That sounds like a really quirky issue you are experiencing. I agree with you that it doesn't sound like a lag issue if its in the same place all the time.

Questions:

  • On the same track in campaign are you experiencing the same thing?
  • Does it only happens when online?

no, it never happens in campaign. or at least it hasn't yet.

i've been separately tackling a strict NAT issue that i was able to fix last night wiring my network to the xbone and forwarding the XBL ports. i'm open NAT again now. and it may be a coincidence but the problem seems to be much less prevalent now. but some of the more severe areas where it was happening are still causing it. like the yas marina hair pin u-turn and turn one on bathurst. but again, it happened to a MUCH lesser degree. so much so that if i hadn't noticed the severe previous instances, i may not have noticed the more subtle ones that happened last night.

also of note, last night when it happened on bathurst, it was still an online game, but no bots. just me and a friend.
