When I turn off the Xbox One (either with the controller or hitting the logo on the front of the console) the light will go off for a few minutes but will then light back up. The Xbox isn't outputting any video, but the light is still on. Any ideas? Is this normal?

Change power mode to power saving.

Actually, the "instant-on" mode has nothing to do with his problem. My Xbox One has been in "instant-on" mode for 3 days and not once has the white light turned on.

I just replaced my X1 because of this problem, I got replacement 3 hours ago. While playing a game and trying to snap party it sort of freezes. I can highlight the tabs but when I hit 'A' nothing happens and eventually it just locks up. So I turn it off to restart it and it takes 40 minutes to power down completely. Is it the power box? Is it overheating? Is it glitching out because of multitasking? There seems to be zero information about this issue other than to replace it. Which in my very recent experience does nothing to fix the problem. If there IS information on everything I just said, please share...

Update: Switching to Power Saver actually stops or at least bandages the problem until a permanent solution is found. After my replacement did the same I scoured the internet and finally found this. If you change to Power Saver it actually does stop it from freezing up. I read that it's a memory leak and the apps aren't clearing like they should, causing an overload of sorts. A massive firmware update is due in April 2014 but I can't say if it'll fix this particular issue or not. Happy Gaming!
