Disconnected from XBox Live once game starts

Hi

I get disconnected from XBox Live once a game starts (any game COD, Tiger Woods, etc).  I am connected to XBox Live when I first turn on the system.  Once I get disconnected (from opening credits in all games, not during gameplay), I can no longer connect to XBox Live unless I re-start the console.

Thanks for the help

If you're getting an MTU error consistently, then you'll want to take a few minutes to read this guide and try the steps listed there.

Thanks for the tip sheet, however, I have tried the above previously.  I only get the MTU message when I try to test my connection after getting kicked out and after starting the game.   When I test my connection before playing a game, I have no message and my connection is fine.

Maybe I'll rephrase the question and see if that helps.  My system worked correctly until I tried to download a course for Tiger Woods.  I never got the course.  I called support and was told to reset my system to factory defaults.  That worked!  Every once in a while I would still get disconnected (never in game, only at credit screen).  Clearing the memory cache solved this problem.  However, last night I tried to download the new expansion packs for Black Ops.  I received an error message, maps did not download, and I checked out the support for that error (8072EE2).  The solutions told me to go to my  download history, but the XBox froze when I did this.  When I tried to pop back into Black Ops, I was disconnected again.  When I tried to check out my download history, the XBox froze again.  Repeat cycle as necessary.

The only solution I have not tried is connecting directly to the modem, however, that is not possible as my gaming console is in my living room and my modem is in the basement of my house.  Any other suggestions?

Have you tried accessing your download history with your HDD removed? If so, does the same thing happen then? (You may need to use a flash drive configured for use with Xbox in order to do this.)

Thanks for the help, all, I appreciate it.  Little embarrassed about this, but turns out the TurtleBeach headphones were interfering with the signal.

Thanks again
