Answer
Answer

Hi Mark,

Let’s follow these methods & check if it helps.

Method 1

You may delete the desktop.htt file & check if the issue persists.

 a) Click on My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System files and Folders are showing / visible.
 b) Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files option.
 c) Now search for
desktop.htt file and delete it

Note: Windows will recreate a fresh one. Close Windows Explorer, and then refresh your desktop.

Method 2

You may also check for entry labeled "DeskHtmlVersion" and change the number in the "Value data" box to "0" under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Desktop\Components from Registry Editor.

Important:  This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 322756 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/) How to back up and restore the registry in Windows.

Hope the information helps.
