windows 8 dns server error

I am continually getting the DNS server error on my windows 8.  Using either Chrome or IE browsers.  Usually happens when I'm on facebook and attempt to go to an app within facebook BUT it happens when I try to switch web pages, too.   My Internet providers says it's not in my settings, it is a Microsoft issue.  I am  not happy about this.   I access my browsers from the desktop instead of the "app screen".  This also happens on my own website, gmail, upon start up, etc.     It very, very frustrating.  

Here is what I get:  
This webpage is not available
The server at imabigfanof.criminalcasegame.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network.
Here are some suggestions:
  • Reload this webpage later.
  • Check your Internet connection. Restart any router, modem, or other network devices you may be using.
  • Check your DNS settings. Contact your network administrator if you're not sure what this means.
  • Try disabling network prediction by following these steps: Go to the Chrome menu > Settings > Show advanced settings... and deselect "Predict network actions to improve page load performance." If this does not resolve the issue, we recommend selecting this option again for improved performance.
  • Add Google Chrome as a permitted program in your firewall's or antivirus software's settings. If it is already a permitted program, try deleting it from the list of permitted programs and adding it again.
  • If you use a proxy server, check your proxy settings or contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is working. If you don't believe you should be using a proxy server, adjust your proxy settings: Go to the Chrome menu >Settings > Show advanced settings... > Change proxy settings... > LAN Settings and deselect the "Use a proxy server for your LAN" checkbox.
Error 105 (net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS address.
I've tried to copy and past from the IPconfig but it won't let me do it.   
I copied the above while on the internet in this page so I AM connected to the internet.  I'm so frustrated I don't know what else to do.   I've only had this computer a month and am ready to take it back and get a mac.

I have the same problem and suspect DNS changer malware.  It happens about 15 minutes after every boot and lasts until reboot.  is there an effective removal tool that works on win 8?

I had to disable the web anti virus on my kaspersky and now I don't have the issue but I'm vulnerable...  Not sure what the fix is for that.

I have the exact same thing happening, and have tried every step above without a change. This is sooooo frustrating ! All I can think is it is about Windows 8.1. Talk about trash..it is.  We all should get refunds and or the next Windows 10 free !!!!!

Try changing your DNS servers, both IPV4 and IPV6 to either OpenDNS or Google's Public DNS.

Why am I suggesting this? After installing Windows 8.1 I began having all kinds of internet connection issues. I was constantly on the phone with my ISP and eventually replaced my modem, router, had the cable company run a new drop, and finally, replaced my PC ( the last one was unrelated to the internet issues). Yet, I still had issues.

Specifically, I would have issues visiting sites I had already visited. For instance, Bing.com was set as my homepage in all my browsers. So, whenever I would open a browser, it would appear as though my internet was down. However, if I tried visiting a site that I had not visited before (or at least in a long while); just fine.

After many hours googling the night away, I stumbled across a forum where someone suggested flushing my DNS cache. It worked. So, I made a BAT file to ease the process when things went crazy.

So, that solved the problem topically, but there was still a problem underneath. After more searching, I came across either a forum or knowledgebase article that described my problem exactly (I cannot find it again). Anyway, if I recall it correctly (and I don't), with Windows 8.1 they dropped support for something (what that something is, I can't remember). This something caused problems in older routers or new routers that still relied on that something. The fix suggested was to switch to either OpenDNS or Google Public DNS. Why? I can't remember the technical explanation, but I tried it, and it worked.

So, the easiest way to tell if this will fix it for you is, next time it happens, open the Command Prompt and type "ipconfig /flushdns" Then return to your browser and click refresh. If the page loads, try switching DNS servers. You can do it to just one machine (I did this when I only had one Win 8.1 PC) or to your router if you have more than one Win 8.1 PC. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem.  It is a Windows issue.  I have tried multiple ways to fix it.  It keeps coming back.

Run the System Update Readiness tool (CheckSur.exe)

 

Download and run the System Update Readiness tool. This tool runs a one-time scan for inconsistencies that may prevent future servicing operations. For more information about how to download and run the CheckSur.exe tool, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

 

Please follow the steps to install available Windows Updates.

 

  1. Press Windows + W, type Windows Update in the Search box, then click Windows Update in the results pane.
  2. Click Check for Updates. After the scan is complete, click Review optional updates.
  3. Click the check box next to the updates, then click Install updates.
  4. If prompted, review the license agreement, then click I Accept.
  5. Follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the updates. If prompted, reboot your computer.

 

After installing all the pending updates, please try to run DISM Windows image scan and restore health command.

 

Following are the steps:

 

  1. Press Windows + X, select Command Prompt (admin).

  2. Type, “Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth” (without quotes) and push Enter.

  3. After completion type, “Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth” (without quotes) and push Enter.

  4. After completion type, “Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth” (without quotes) and push Enter.

  5. When finished, it is recommended to restart the PC to configure any updates that may have been affected by this.
