Hi,

Welcome to Microsoft Windows 7 Answers Forum!

In order to know more about the issue could you tell us whether,

a)      Do you receive any exact error message about S-channel?

b)      From when are you facing this issue?

Note: SChannel means secure channel.

Now try to download the updates on to your computer and install that on your computer to do that you need to follow the link provided below.

Help

I am also having the same problem with Windows 7 and wondered if anyone could explain this (preferably in english).

I looked at the steps listed above, however ....

1. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=21086a04-402a-4940-8358-7fa63508102b&displaylang=en

says its a Security update for Vista (I think i mentioned i was running Windows 7)

2. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/ms09-007.mspx

this link doesn't work but if you copy and paste it, it takes you to a page with NO updates available for Windows 7.   (I think i mentioned i was running Windows 7)

3. http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

As a workaround you may perform an online scan on your computer and check for the issue.

You can't perform an online scan with Windows 7 you have to install the software instead.  (I think i mentioned i was running Windows 7)

So ....

does anyone have any help with this error for people running Windows 7.   (I think i mentioned i was running Windows 7)

Even worse, this was marked as "answered" by the moderator who is apparently certified in multiple Microsoft technologies. Pitty he can't read and realise this hasn't actually been answered yet.

Why do Microsoft employ such muppets? Fail.

Hi JarrodScott,

Due to the age of the thread and to avoid confusion, I would recommend starting your own question at the link below so that the community can best focus on your specific issue.  Since your issue is in regards to Windows Server, I would recommend the following link:

Debbie - I don't know about JarrodScott or how he feels about it, but if you'll look THERE ARE PLENTY of other posts about this problem on the web.   We don't need another one - we need Microsoft to FIX THE PROBLEM or EXPLAIN WHY the error message keeps appearing on our systems and what WE can do.

It's NOT just a windowsserver problem -- It's happening on Windows 7 systems as well - I thought that's what this forum was for.

Schannel has to do with certificates.. This I know since I am having this problem as a result of a broken internal certificate server... I have not fixed it, but I am glomming on here in case someone posts something helpful (Unlike post #2)

So if you have found an answer, please let me know!
