Windows 7 Boot screen displays Vista Green Loading Bar

At some point during ownership of my Windows 7 copy, the boot screen changed from the usual Windows 7 splash to an odd Vista boot login.  I do not have a dual boot of any other Windows OS, just Windows 7.  I have done a full system format in hopes that it would default back to the original boot screen, but the boot screen remains unchanged. I have read about the need for a display higher than 1024x768 for this animation, however I have dual Nvidia Geforce graphics cards and a 1920x1080 display, so video graphics aren't an issue.

Is there any solution to this issue?

Sometimes, high resolution animated and dynamic Windows 7 boot screen User Interface may be changed to or replaced with Windows Vista boot screen, normally when user adds a Windows 7 entry in boot menu or accidentally when user attempts to repair the startup menu items with Windows Vista DVD, specifically Startup Repair.


The invalid and wrong boot screen for Windows 7 is due to missing locale entry in boot record, which failed to be set when editing or rebuilding the BCD. When locale is not found, Windows boot loader does not know which boot locale folder to look for the animated bootscreen. Thus, in order to fix the boot screen so that the boot screen can be reverted, restored or reseted back to original animated Windows 7 boot screen, just run one of the following commands in elevated command prompt with administrator rights:

  1. Click on Start button.
  2. Locate the Command Prompt  (buried deep inside Accessories under All Programs or appear on program access history).
  3. Right click on Command Prompt.
  4. On the pop-up right click context menu, select “Run as Administrator”.
     

Type the following in the command prompt


bcdedit /set {current} locale en-US
or
bcdboot %WinDir% /l en-US
 
Change the en-US to the language version of the installed Windows 7, such as ja-JP, de-DE, es-ES, pt-BR, zh-CN, zh-TW, fr-FR, fi-FI and etc.
Restart the computer after running the command to see the new boot UI (user interface) be used again.
 
To check if the locale setting has been entered properly, just run the bceedit command in command prompt that runs as administrator.

I attempted both commands on separate restarts, neither provided a fix to my issue unfortunately.

Is there anything else I can try?

Those commands did not work for me either.

I have the same Win 7 image rolled out to our network computers.
On all of the Dell Optiplex's the normal Windows 7 boot logo is displayed.
But on our mini 2GOPC classmate laptops, the Vista bar is displayed.

Weird as it's exactly the same WIM image.

I was going to say it's a graphics thing perhaps but Craig has dual Nvidia graphics cards so I'm guessing that throws the idea out the window.

There has not been a response to this issue for some time.  Does anyone at Microsoft know what's causing the problem in this OS?

I installed Win7 last month with Nvidia 8500GT graphics card in the system. It was showing up Vista style Boot screen. I changed the graphic card to Nvidia GT240 and updating the latest drivers, Boot screen changed to the beautiful Win7 style. (That's when I saw the Win7 boot screen for the first time :) ). Due to increased card noise level (wasn't bad but noticeable in my HTPC as moving from silent card to a card with fan), I went back to 8500GT card and the boot screen changed back to Vista style. So there is something with Graphics card as well??

I think that the problem should be with the amount of RAM allocated to the graphics card.
 
Are you using an integrated graphics card? 
If yes, then this problem is due to incorrect sharing of RAM on the system.
 
Windows 7 will not show the animated boot screen if you have less RAM dedicated for graphics.
 
You can find this information under BIOS, Advanced option.
I would also suggest you to check for any updates to the BIOS.

the reply you gave was wrong, and it has nothing to do with memory. I have a computer with 8gbsof memory and 2gbs of graphics card memory and i still have the same issue. if the problem is ram then i dont know how much ram a computer needs to run.

It should have very little to do with the amount of RAM or video card memory.

We have multiple Dell Optiplex 745 computers that display the Windows 7 boot screen OK. These have 1 GB RAM and are using basic Intel graphics on motherboard.

I too am just now getting this problem. I am thinking maybe an update Microsoft rolled out that effects certain card or motherboard models. I have tried the boot commands, neither have worked. I have 3GB DDR2 RAM, and only 512MB Dedicated to GPU. I am running an 8500 GT. I saw that some other posters had the same model and just thought it could possibly be an update or a specific install from something or somewhere that changed registry in one way or another. Just thought I would share this. Hope to get this fixed soon as I love the Win 7 boot animation :)
