Not able to extract zip folders (no connection to windows built in zip app)

I have previous been able to extract folders with the .zip ending, after removing zip genius, my .zip ending files wont be extracted by windows 7 built in extractor. The issue is when windows is not recognizing the zip file and it ask me what program I should open the zip file with. I cant find windows 7 zip app in the list, and I don't really want to use any 3 party apps. Any tips on what to do?

Toven,

If you have already tried changing file extension, to no avail, you may want to try a System restore to a point before the problem/change occurred. I hope this helps.
