My calendar and weather gadgets stopped working after the most recent Windows 7 (premium) update.  The gadgets are displayed on the desktop, but they don't work.  Today's date isn't displayed and the weather gadget doesn't establish contact with the server so nothing is displayed.  What happened, and how do I fix it?

I guess the first thing you could try, click the start button and type in the explorer box, restore desktop gadgets installed with windows and hit enter, see if the troubleshoot comes up with something.

Try reinstalling gagets as suggested in the following post:

I have fixed this issue:

Open regedit and go to - HKey_Current_User / Software / Microsoft / Windows/ CurrentVersion / Internet Settings / Zones

You will see 5 zones one with a funny symbol ¬ and 0 to 4 just delete the funny looking zone, roeboot and all fixed.

Enjoy

If you don't feel comfortable with the registry, you can also try this:
1 - Type the word Internet into your Start menu, then choose Internet Options
2 - On the Security tab, click Restore all zones to default
3 - Click OK, then try using gadgets again

I did try resetting the zones before editing the registry but this did not work.  I had installed IE9 RC and wonder if the issue was not a Windows 7 SP1 issue.  I removed IE9 then applied SP1 and then had the issue.  If you look on the Web it may have been an Adobe flash bug related to IE9.
