KB3141092 Hotfix in Tuesday Updates

Sorry - I was too occupied with other issues at the same time i checked the update results, so I did not pay enough attension to what I was actually reading.

Still - I Wonder why the hotfix is not listed in the update overview.

I would like to tell you that Windows Update KB3141092 is a cumulative security update for Internet Explorer 11 for Windows 8.1 computer. It's an important update and if the computer is set to install updates automatically, important updates are downloaded and installed automatically in the background.

There seems to be a very Serious problem after this KB3141092 got installed from back door.!!!

I am referring here W7 systems.

After this install, IE 11 is broken dangerously...ShowModalDialog does not allow any return values.!!!!

It took us a while to figure this out and we have to Uninstall this one.

Can you guys at MSFT solve this issue very urgently..???

Somehow, there seems to be some confusion about this KB3141092 issue. I was referring to the Hotfix relating to KB3141092 released yesterday together with the other monthly updates and not the KB3141092 cumulative security update as Anusha Verma was referring. The Hotfix was not listed as an available update and after the other monthly updates were installed, it was not listed in the Update Overview either as the other updates were. The only trace it was leaving was in the Installed Updates list, which in my opinion is odd. The only explanation I can find is it was imbedded in one of the other updates, perhaps the cumulative IE update (KB3134814). Anyway – the hotfix has not caused any problems on three different Win 8.1 Pro /64 bit systems I have updated (at least not yet), but I must admit the problems Chittesh Mehta describe does give me a feeling of unease. I shall certainly keep a close watch, but maybe it is Win7 related only. The solution is not to hide it - how can you do that without knowing its origin?

Its has been confirmed now after testing with few PC and conclusion is as below.

Windows 7
KB3134814 Sneaks in from backdoor and screws up IE11's ShowModalDialog returnValue.!!!

Uninstalling this manually its back to normal.

Windows 10

KB3135173 Causes the same effect, But its listed in updated and you will have to manually un-install it.!

Guys at MSFT....This is very dangerous and really unexpected behaviour, This is causing huge problems....People are really scared of ALL updates.

When are we getting a FIX for this Buggy FIX?

When the update is for Windows 8.1-computers, so perhaps, that's is why they don't get in to trouble? As you know, you can allways restore the hidden updates again later, if wanted...

I was able to see the update prior to it being installed and found it in installed updates afterwards.

There is a problem with the support link for the KB article. I believe you feel it was a back door because of what Anusha mentioned about it being a important update and automatically installs if you have automatically install updates selected for windows updates. You can change that functionality if you want.

I don't believe the ShowModalDialog not working as it used to is as big of an issue as you believe. As a matter of fact, I believe Microsoft has made the correct choice in disabling it in IE 11. Developers should be using HTML, CSS, Javascript to write web applications. Its just more secure and better for the users when they have limited access to the end users computer. If they want to develop applets, it would be better to make their own application and not tie it to IE. Then people are more aware the levels of risk they have using the software. IE should just be used for simple products like forms and displaying information.  I'm glad Microsoft is restricting more functionality around their browser.
