Dell Zino HD with Windows 8.1 won't boot up

I have a Dell Zino HD and it was working completely fine with Windows 8. Got it updated to Windows 8.1 couple days ago but having some issues in power up. Windows won't load in first attempt. I can see the Windows 8 logo but it won't load (no spinning circle). I have to press and hold the power button to power it down, then power it up again and it will start to load. I was thinking it could be a BIOS issue. Checked on Dell support website but there is no BIOS update for ZINO HD.

Does anyone encounter the same issue?
Got that sorted by disable Fast start-up in Power settings.

I'm having the same problem. I'll give the suggestion above a try and report back, but any clue as to what the actual cause of this problem is? It's pretty rude to have a system that fails to boot after an upgrade.

Nope. Made no difference whatsoever. I have spent 3 days trying to figure out what to tweak, to no avail. I'm going back to Windows 8.

I also got a little "gift" from 8.1 on my laptop - wakes it up for maintenance and leaves it on. Then when I open it up to use it - dead battery. Sweet. At least I was able to fix that problem.

Sam, I have bee racking my brains here. But I see that you got 8.1 installed on your Zino HD. Was it the preview or the final version via the Store?

Was the install fairly simple and normal? I have tried just about every config, BIOS setting changes, removing peripherals, fresh installs of 7 and 8.

I have a 2011 Zino service tag 3QS8FQ1

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi,

I installed Windows 8 upgrade then to Windows 8.1 which downloaded from the store. What's the problem on your Zino HD?

Hi Sam,

I consistently get stuck at 'getting devices ready' at 4%.

It just sits there and never gets past that point. I am thinking there is some piece of hardware but all my diagnostics don't show a problem and I have all drivers updated.

literally have tried every trick on these forums and others with similar symptoms.

It's strange because 8 installs no problem.

What version of the Zino do you have?

Thanks!
