DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG error

Original Title: Help Among Internet Connection

Hi

First of all i'm usnig a G580 Lenovo with windows 8.1 pro with media center

as you might know we must use anti filtering software such as NEXTVPN , KERIO , ETC to access some websites such as FB or Twitter in IRAN

i have two annoying problems :

all of a sudden these two problems started and they are making me crazy , i CANT reinstall windows because i purchased a software for my university work and the process for backing up and reinstall the software will last until the end of the world !

1- i can use only VPN+ service and the speed is not much faster than an old turtle !
i tested my vpn connections on another PC running on windows 7 all of them work perfect and everything goes fine and i have full access to internet

2- another problem that showed up is that sometimes i use my Samsung Galaxy MEGA WiFi Hotspot to access internet ,windows shows internet access and the diagnosis cant find any problem but when i try to open any webpage i face this error:

DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_BAD_CONFIG

on the other PC everything operates normal

as i mentioned reinstalling windows is NOT an option :(

so please if you can help me solve this issue let me know how

Thank you very much

I've had this myself over the last few days (first time I've seen this as well).

Restarting the router normally resolves the issue so I would try that as well.

Another thing you can try is opening a command prompt (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt). Type in "ipconfig /release" then enter, then type "ipconfig /flushdns" then enter and then "ipconfig /renew" and enter.

Let me know if the problem still occurs after trying this.

Kind regards.

Connor

Hi,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. I understand that you have an issue regarding Internet connection. This issue might occur due to driver issue.

Follow the methods mentioned below and check if that helps:

Method 1:

Update the windows (including optional updates):

Running the latest Windows updates protect the system from Malicious Software, resolves general Windows issues, bugs and also accesses new Windows and Software Features.

To do so, follow the steps mentioned below:

a. When you are on the desktop screen, Hit windows key + r on the keyboard (simultaneously)

b. Run windows will be opened.

c. Type in wuapp in the run window and hit enter.

d. Select "Windows Update."

e. Select "Check for updates." Wait as the Windows Update tool scans checks for updates that you have not installed. If you see a message that says, "Updates are available for your computer" or "Install updates for your computer," click the button labeled "Install updates."

f. Wait as the updates install.

g. Restart your computer when prompted to complete the updating process and check if that helps.

Method 2:

Reset TCP/IP:

Run the fix it in the link below:

Method 3:

 Reinstall the Adapter

If you are already having the manufacturer’s device drivers installed for network adapter rather than that of Microsoft, you may need to just uninstall and then reinstall the drivers. To do so, carry out the following steps.

a. Go to Device Manager and expand Network adapter categories

b. Right click the item stating wireless connection and choose to Uninstall

c. Restart the computer

d. After a restart the system will automatically install the driver

e. However if it doesn’t then go back to Device Manager

f. Right click username on the top of the list and choose to scan for hardware changes

g. The system shall automatically recognize the missing drivers

h. Following the instructions on Driver Software Installation wizard to set up network adapter

i. Restart the computer once again and see if it works

Method 4:

Install the network drivers from the manufacturer website.
