MS-Project 2016 (Format Bar shape in Gantt Chart)

I tried to change the shape of the Gantt Chart bar and I tried both (Bar format, on the middle section but the shapes I can select from are all very thin, I don't have the thick bar that will fill the whole cell as usual)

I also tried to increase it from (Layout under Format, Bar Height) choosing 24 but still very thin line...

Any idea what happened and why I don't have the regular (thick) shape that I have on the other 2010 or 2013 on the other computer?

As you can see in the attached pictures, these are all the shapes that I can choose from , they all have just thin bars but no thick ones or the regular Gantt chart bar that we used to see

I am using Surface Pro 3 (I3) windows Pro 10

Thank you

Phil

Try clicking the Reset button at the bottom of the Bar Styles dialog. I think this resets the view to default values the same View has in the Global.mpt file.

Hello,

Will uninstalling interfere with the license if I need to reinstall it on the same machine?

Assuming you have installed a click to run version, you should be able to download and software again to re-install.  Have you tried the repair, first?

Re-installing doesn't help.  I've tried it twice now - also installed the 64-bit version (which Microsoft doesn't trust as safe, btw) with no luck.  Sorry, haven't found a fix for this issue yet.

The following setting under "Change the height of Gantt bars" is supposed to make it different, but I find it only applies to when they're printed - it does not affect the view.  (Sorry, no solution yet.)

Hello Farid

I have been slack, but thanks for the prompt.  I have just logged (see below) the problem on the developer forum (as suggested by @Marielle Cas).  I have tried to include all of the above in there (I hope nobody minds) and will be sure to update any response here as well.

(See here for logged question on Developer forum.)

"Using MS Project 2016 (Office 365) on Win10 (latest preview), the Gantt chart bars are appearing very thin.  The following has been tried with no effect:

  • Re-installing doesn't help.  I've tried it twice now - also installed the 64-bit version with no luck.
  • The following setting under "Change the height of Gantt bars" is supposed to make it different, but I find it only applies to when they're printed - it does not affect the view.
  • Clicking the Reset button at the bottom of the Bar Styles dialog doesn't help.
  • Recover default formats from global template doesn't help.

Would appreciate any/all help."

Same problem for me.

In my opinion Microsoft Project bars not supporting the "Scaling feature" available in Win10.

Try this:

- Customize your display: Change the size of text, apps, and other items: (change to lower value.. e.s. in my Surface.. 150%)

- restart your device

- Scaling back to 175%

- Open Project and bars look fine...

but after next restart of device.... the problem is still there!!!

We need un update on Microsoft Project to better support "display scaling".

Please try and let me know...

Regards
