Drafts folder doesn't sync across devices / clients

Hi there

We migrated from Google Apps to Office 365 and Hosted Exchange last week and I've noticed that the emails in the Drafts folder don't sync outside the device or client they are created in.  Is there a setting that needs to be enabled for this to work?  If not, this seems like a fundamental limitation this day in age when people are constantly switching across devices while on the move.

Thanks

Jason

Hi Jason,

To look into the issue, I’d like to confirm what clients and devices you have configured your Office 365 account, such as Outlook 2016 (for Windows or Mac), Outlook for Android/iOS or the built -in mail app in Android or iOS. Meanwhile, tell us how you configure your Office 365 account there, through Exchange, POP or IMAP.

To test whether issue is related to the clients, the devices or your account itself, can you perform the following tests?

1. Create drafts in Outlook Web App (https://outlook.office365.com/owa) and check whether they can be synced to the devices or not.

2. Do the tests on the clients and devices and check in Outlook Web App.

Furthermore, if you remove your Office 365 account from the devices or clients and re-add it, does the issue persist?

With the detailed information, we will do further analysis for you.

Thanks,

Robert

Hi there

Thanks for getting back to me.  See below:

To look into the issue, I’d like to confirm what clients and devices you have configured your Office 365 account, such as Outlook 2016 (for Windows or Mac), Outlook for Android/iOS or the built -in mail app in Android or iOS. Meanwhile, tell us how you configure your Office 365 account there, through Exchange, POP or IMAP.

-  OUTLOOK 2016 AND OUTLOOK FOR iOS.  CONFIGURED THROUGH EXCHANGE.

To test whether issue is related to the clients, the devices or your account itself, can you perform the following tests?

1. Create drafts in Outlook Web App (outlook.office365.com/owa) and check whether they can be synced to the devices or not.

-  WHEN CREATED IN OWA, IT SYNCS WITH OUTLOOK 2016.  IT DOESN'T SYNC WITH OUTLOOK ON iOS THOUGH.

2. Do the tests on the clients and devices and check in Outlook Web App.

- WHEN I CREATE IN OUTLOOK 2016 IT SYNCS TO OWA, BUT NOT THE OUTLOOK iOS APP.

- WHEN I CREATE IN THE iOS APP, IT DOESN'T SYNC TO ANY OTHER LOCATION / DEVICE.

Furthermore, if you remove your Office 365 account from the devices or clients and re-add it, does the issue persist?

- YES, REMOVING AND RE-ADDING DOESN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM.

With the detailed information, we will do further analysis for you.

Thanks

Jason

hi jason,

thanks for the updates.

based on the tests results, we can determine the issue is related to the outlook for ios itself but not your office 365 account.

we have a dedicated support where you can use the in-app support to report any issues or feedback regarding the outlook for ios app. the relevant team would like to hear from you.

*note when using the in app support.

1.  it can take a while for a representative to get back to the user. it is recommended that the user turn on notifications for outlook in order to know when the technician is available.

2. if you don’t have notifications turned on, then when the user opens the app again and goes to support, you should see a response from the technician.

3. it is recommended that the user’s initial question be as fully descriptive as possible of the situation.

Thanks for posting back.

There may be some differences between your UI and the screenshots Robert pasted. Please further check if you can find the option in Settings. For your reference:

Hi Sam,

Is it normal behaviour that the Drafts folder in the Outlook Mail app for Windows 10 Desktop and Mobile does not sync the Drafts folder from Office365.com? Tried what Robert suggested and I don't see my mail in the draft in either of my devices.

FYI, I am running the latest Insider RS1 builds for both desktop and mobile.

Thanks.

Firdaus
