You could try turning off fast startup and see if you get the startup issue.
1. Right-click start, Power Options
2. Click Require a password on wakeup
3. Click Change settings that are currently unavailable
4. Untick [ ] Turn on fast startup
5. Click [Save changes] button
6. Shutdown
7. Start your computer and login.
This worked for me.

A workaround is to hit the power button to shut your PC down and then power up again to restart it. If your PC is not plugged in and goes into sleep mode and then hibernate then it will be bitten by this issue as well.
An alternative workaround is to turn off fast boot (as mentioned by someone this forum).

This fix suggested by Max and LC worked for me.
Puzzling, though how the only real updates/changes to the latest Preview 14267 were supposed to be to Edge.
Either way, this fix worked for me.

Seems to be a fast startup issue newly introduced.
When I look in the event logs I see:
- Kernel-Boot event 29 (Windows failed fast startup with error status 0xC0000001.)
- [[I hard boot the PC]]
- BugCheck event 1001 (The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000d1 (0xfffff804fd661890, 0x00000000000000ff, 0x00000000000000c0, 0xfffff804fd661890). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\022016-25640-01.dmp. Report Id: c78fa49c-1c43-4ade-a085-673b6d3f440f.)
