Introducing Cortana for iOS

As a Windows Insider, you already know that Cortana is your truly personal digital assistant, there to help you get things done. By learning more about you over time, Cortana becomes more useful every day. Cortana helps you be more productive by completing basic tasks like sending emails, scheduling events, and using the power of Bing to quickly search your devices, the cloud, or the web. Cortana’s also the best at reminders, delivering them at the right time and place so you forget less and can do more.

Your life is not limited to one device, and neither is your digital assistant. Cortana is with you on your Windows 10 PC, tablet, and phone—helping you whenever and wherever you need it. But we also know that there's a choice of mobile devices out there, so we want help from our Windows Insiders to make sure she's a great personal assistant on iOS too.

Cortana's deep integration with Windows means that’s where she can really shine. So, while there are some features you'll use on Windows that we don't (yet) support on iOS phones (like saying "Hey Cortana" to wake her up), we’ve focused on making Cortana on iOS the perfect companion to your Windows experience.

In the spirit of the Windows Insider Program, we’re looking for a limited number of people to get their hands on an early version of the app. It’s important to keep in mind that this is the first public release of the Cortana for iOS beta. And that for now, Cortana for iOS is only available in the U.S. and China. Over the coming months, we’ll continue to deliver frequent updates to the app to expand the features and functionality.

If you're interested in getting early access to the beta version in the U.S., please take this short survey. We'll be limiting access to begin with, and will start sending out download links over email to bring users on-board in the coming weeks.

I know that Microsoft is using Cortana data search to increase Cortana's AI for the next halo.

Any chance you know when the invites are going out? If not, any shoot you could give a ballpark as to the number of users who will get an invite?

I'm super pumped for this as I use Cortana all the time for my desktop and Surface. The only limiting factor at this point has been the fact that I can't take Cortana with me everywhere I go. This will make it 1000x more useful for just about everything the platform does. Move over Google Now.

Really have been waiting for this so long.  Heavy user of Cortana on my Surface Pro 3, used to love it on my Windows Phone.  But had to make the switch to ios (out of my control), desperately miss Cortana.  Especially now that I upgraded my Band to the Band 2.

Been waiting for this also, super excited!  Hoping that Apple really works with Google and Microsoft to allow complete integration of Cortana if desired.  When phone is setup the setup should involve Use Siri, or Use Cortana or Use Ok Google.  I hope apple at least allows the home button hold action to trigger Cortana rather than Siri if that's what's setup.

Very excited to see this. It will be interesting to see how Cortana handles a lower end iOS device like my 4S. My wife has a 6S and you can really tell the speed difference between the two models when it comes to Siri's processing.

Window's Cortana on an Apple iOS device and software....Wow.  If you listen closely, you can hear Steve Jobs screaming in his grave.

I'd like to use it. However, Apple doesn't free a part of a core obstinately, so that would be inferior compared with safari.

I really can't believe the arrogance of Microsoft on this point, so keep on reading my cry of frustration.

I'm from Norway, and a loyal Microsoft user for years. I'm working as a SharePoint consultant on my new Windows 10, using a Windows Mobile 8 for work, and an older Windows Phone 7.8 for private, I have an XBox One and 360 at home. AND NOT ONE OF THEM HAS GOTTEN CORTANA SUPPORT YET (EVEN IN ENGLISH, DUE TO A STUPID REGION LOCK). Not to mention the other stuff that's locked into Cortana that's not available before Cortana is.

And you spend money getting iOS/Android support for Cortana before getting language support or even just unlocking english in other regions?!? Someone please help me understand this, because I'm baffled. (and don't give me **** about Bing not being able to support localized search in Cortana, we don't care as long as we can start to talk to our devices)

I have both a iPhone 6S (Work) and a Nokia Lumia 830 (Personal - Windows phone).  Siri (iPhone) is totally inferior when it comes to competing with Cortana.  Cortona is much more intuitive and accurate compared to Siri.  I'd delete Siri on my iPhone in a heartbeat if i could to have Cortana replace Siri on the iPhone.
