date/time reset , game saves disappearing

I havent been able to find this particular problem on the forum. In the last day or so I noticed every time i turn on my xbox the date and time have reset to default (i'm guessing, its something like 11/22/2005). Also each time ive saved a my game progress the save disappears after the system is restarted, it is detecting the hard drive and loading previous saves but when i create a new save or update an old one it disappears. Any ideas?

It honestly sounds like a hard drive issue. The system is defaulting it's saves and settings like nothing is there indicates memory loss.

If you have anything else you could use (a USB drive, another hard drive,) try it and see if it has the same problem.
