Are there differences in framerate between PAL games and NTSC games? (Metro 2033)

I recently purchased Metro 2033 on Amazon.com, and I found out that it was the PAL version. I have an NTSC Xbox 360, but the game still plays on it.

My question is: Do PAL games have lower framerates? It seems like it's laggier than a US copy of the game I played.

Hi there. I'm not specifically sure about the difference between Xbox 360 games across the two types of encoding. With regular video, however, NTSC is used with a fps of 60i or 30p, so it theoretically offers very slightly smoother motion than PAL, which is generally used with 50i or 25p. The reason why you're experiencing much lower frame rates is most likely because you are trying to use a PAL game in an NTSC Xbox console. Although it works to an extent, it is not completely compatible and may have significant lag or be discolored as a result.

From my knowlodge the pal game shouldnt work on ntsc console \ but you got lucky. any way its probobly just your xbox or the disc is scratched

NTSC is 60i or 30p

Do not mean to reopen this up but I got a PAL version today too but it was a used copy. I may just need to send this back.

Hi Cab!  Yes, if you are not PAL region, I'm afraid your only option to ensure compatibility will be to make that exchange.
