Xbox One Controller Input Lag

Unfortunately, I'm experiencing issues with controller input lag.  I couldn't find any topics regarding this issue, so I apologize if this topic's been brought up already.  I purchased my console day one from a Target and right out of the box I started having this issue.  I've tried using the controller that came with the console and another that I bought separately.  It doesn't seem to make a difference with either, the lag renders games like Forza 5 and NBA 2K14 unplayable since they rely on quick reaction times. The lag is slight (maybe .25 - .5 seconds) but still that minuscule amount of time is a huge factor in my experience playing these.  So much so that I actually say **** it and quit the game completely.

I understand that this issue is small compared to many of the other issues users are experiencing, but none the less I expect a product that I paid 500+ USD for to work.

Any resolutions or do I need to send it in?

I have the same problem when playing COD Ghost, it has to be the controller or the Xbox One. No problems with my TV or the game when a 360 was used with a rented COD Ghost before.

Hi Aqua, do you sit quite a distance away from your console? Is there anything between you and your console that might cause a slight problem for the bluetooth connection? Or maybe something next to your console that might interfere with the frequency. I'm Sorry for the questions, I'd just like to eliminate a few things before looking into your problem more.

I have also had these issues with my xbox one. The input delay is similar to Vsync on the PC which waits for the TV or monitor to be ready before the GPU sends another frame to it. Most TVs only support 60hz input (60fps). On top of this, almost all TVs have input delay whether it's 8ms, or 150ms. I guarantee it's not your controller - it would skip or not respond at all if it didn't have a good connection. The bluetooth controller input delay is so miniscual (1-5ms) you would not notice. The only way to get a more precise feel is to switch TVs unfortunately....disadvantages of consoles I guess :/

Go here and look up your tv model to see where it's rated. http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/input-lag

Is the lag the same if the controller is connected to the USB port? Also, have you tried a hard reboot of the Xbox to see if that corrects the problem since you say it just started happening after a few months of no problem.

If you haven't yet, install the Firmware update for the XB1 wireless controller. This is supposed to solve this issue.

I also have this problem. I have a good half a second delay between controller input and visual response. It's not necessarily because of the xbox one or controller, though i do wish the xbox would at least be able to keep up with technology abroad. I have Anti motion blur tech on my T.V which means the ****er runs a 480 frame refresh rate. The xbox one maxes out at 240 i'm guessing. Sooo....anything you guys can do to make this work or what? Show me how good you guys are and I won't tell all of my rich customers to buy the playstation four. XD

Hi Russian! I use a Plasma which runs at 600hz, so that technically shouldn't be causing the problem with delay. However, what CAN cause an issue is if your TV has any kind of motion blur "setting" (rather than a built-in feature) that you can turn off. If your TV is running various image enhancements like Motion Blur reduction, black level enhancement, picture sharpening, etc. these are all things that require post-processing time from the television, and which will result in the delay between a controller input and the image showing up onscreen.

I would STRONGLY recommend running the image calibration on the Xbox One itself, which will walk you through all of the settings, and there is actually a specific spot in the calibration where it tells you to turn off all image enhancements for a truer picture.

The result is something like this (not scientific, but a general idea):

Controller Input --> Black Level Enhancement (.125 second) -> Motion Blur Reduction (.25) -> Sharpness Enhancement (.125) - 1/2 second has passed between controller input and image onscreen reflecting the input.

Controller Input --> NO Image Post-processing -> Image reflects controller changes almost instantaneously.

I just tried my XBone on three different TV:s here at home and on all of them I get about 0,5-1 sec input lag when playing Forza5.... that´s not acceptable I think.

No picture inhancements or other sh*t activated on the TV:s.

(The TV:s range from a 55" 1500 Euro Philips to a 32" 300 Euro NoName)

Sucks.....

Turns out that the problem is in Forza 5 itself after a bit more research!

It´s gone too much arcade.... I did not have this problem with Forza 4 on my previous Xbox360.

So today I am selling the Xbone, very disapointed.
