SYSTEM UPDATE CAUSING MOTIONS SICKNESS

I have been experincing motions sickness since the june 2012 Dashboard update.  I have over 160 plus games and never get motion sickness until the new dashboard update just came down and one other past update years ago that was patched.  This time it's so bad I even get motion sick just sitting on the dashboard for just a second or two.  I can play PS3 still with no problem on the same tv and anything else but I would really like to play my games on my xbox as I have a extensive library of games.  I have friends who are complaining of the same thing and only since the latest system update are they having this problem. I contacted xbox and they said this issues of this nature are now handled though xbox.com as they don't have direct contact with anybody in the development team to get a patch.  I have been on xbox live alomost everyday for over six years and had so many dashborad updates(around the30) and only 2 have caused this problem. Its a huge problem when I nor freinds of mine are unable to play or watch anything on our xbox due to a system update causing motion sickness.  I was told the update was only Kinect related the first time I called something to do with height and weight detection but it changed much more than that ohterwise I wouldn't being so sick from it not to mention I have points I'd like to spend but can't.  I've tried numerous troubleshooting tips without success such as deleting the system update and reinstalling it (no success) I've tried resetting system to defaults by holding right trigger and Y and still didn't solve it as it did in past with the previous system update that caused me motion sickness and it helped.  I tried deleting and just redownloading it from live didn't help. I even deleted the system update and reinstalled the old patch off the support forums from febuary on xbox.com and no fix. This patch is bad I have friends who used to only get sick with one game now all games make them sick a good example would be a friend of mine DelsolateWolf.  I would love to get back to using my system as before the previous update as well as my friends and we would appreciate a patch as soon as possible.

I have the same issue, may I suggest that you do/check the following.

TV set to gaming mode where possible.

adjust sharpness level to 2 or above (dependant on TV model).

reduce brightness by 5% and increase contrast by 5%.

check display settings on the Xbox to make sure nothing changed when you updated.

After doing these I found the motion sickness feeling stopped and every thing was normal again.  This may help until a full solution is found.

Yes gaming mode is always on for me so that doesn't help and TV adjusting doesn't do a thing for me.  My problem is with the update as with alot of my friends

I haven't noticed this 'motion sickness' happening to me. Are you sitting very close to the TV? If you are, back up from it.

-

Also, what size TV are you playing on? If you're playing two feet away from a 55" TV then for sure, you're going to have problems.

-

You might want to see your eye doctor and tell him/her about this as this could be something with your eyes.

-

And yes, I know it's happening to your friends as well. I advise having them see one too.

First off I am not sitting too close to my tv nor my friends I game on a 46" at over 12 feet distance and if you knew anything about motion sickness it has nothing to do with eyesight alone and with videogames it's called simulation sickness and it occurs when the ear the eyes send inaccurate information to the brain caused by the source and only the source.  And if you read my post and really wanted to help then why is it when I play PS3 and everything else is fine and this happened twice only with xbox over thecourse of 6 years and only immedialey after system updates.  I don't think your trying to help the situatation just get free stuff off the xbox ambassadors program as if you read my post which you obviously didn't you wouldn't have written what you  said.  And do you really think all my friends just suddenly started getting motion sickness after over 6 years of gaming everyday and just right when update came up we all started putting our faces inches away our tv, I don't thinks so.  If your not experincing motion sickness and have anything valuable to contribute please don't post useless information.

I don't earn 'free stuff' from the program unless I actually give an answer that's verified by the OP.

Dear OP, what could be a solution to your problem is taking a break from using your console, similar to recommend time using a computer after long periods of use you can get "motion sickness" as you put it. Now this does not seem to be the issue but it is possible to change the Resolution settings on your TV on the xbox by going to System Settings (Press the guide button on your controller and go all the way to the right) > System Settings > Console Settings > Display > HD TV Settings. Now mess around with this for a bit and update up on if this works. Thanks for coming to the Xbox Forums :)

If you would all read the OP post again, he says its only just happened since the update, as with me. NOTHING else has changed! ...So, in that respect, it is an issued caused by the update, for him, his friends and me. Whether it is the update, or a setting it has changed. WHo knows, but I have checked everything, and it is all exactly as it was before the update.

I can only think it has something to do with the graphics drivers/code within the latest update.

Whatever it maybe, I truly hope it gets resolved.

Hey guys! As far as I know there were no graphical components to our recent update. I would suggest trying different video setups (TVs, positions, cables, etc.). If you continue experiencing motion sickness or other possible eye problems, I would advise a check-up with your eye doctor. Thank you!
