Have you tried disabling all of the settings and then re-enabling them? Alternatively, have you tried checking the settings on Xbox.com, to see if they're correct there?

I have disabled and re-enabled. I haven't done it on xbox.com because I can't figure out where to go on here to do that.

Exactly what settings are you saying are reset when the console restarts? Is this for all profiles, or just your kid's?

for all profiles. They start as disabled when the console is turned on. When I turn them on it makes me go through all the initializing (pick a password, reset answer, etc).

The settings that allow me to put time limits and rating limits on how long and what he plays. I think they are 'parental controls'.

When you go to the Parental Settings menu, do you see the other GT there?

What is GT? I see Ratings and content, family timer, xbox live access, change passcode, and reset to default settings.

So when you click on Family Settings from the My Xbox row, that very next window should have Console Safety but it should also show the Avatars of your children accounts. If you don't see any Avatars here, then that account has no directly linked children. They could be attached to a different parent account, or maybe they were promoted to adults.
