Migrating your online account from UK to Canada!

Hi, I moved from the Uk to Canada a few months ago and recovered my UK account on my new xbox which I purchased in Canada.

It all works fine, but it still has a UK format on the dashboard. And to top it off I purchased a prepaid points card from futureshop- after typing  in the redeem code it doesnt recognize the code.....Frustrateing!!!! I know you can migrate your account to selected countrys but does anyone know when they are going to have Canada as an option?

Nope the tool was never meant for wide use As the conditions of the migration tool would make it not popular

Like the forfeiture of downloads and once a year use

The best solution is to create a new account

Nothing is transfer between accounts and ms points are region locked

It's better to keep the uk account separate for your uk downloads and canadian account for Canadian content as some content is region specific

Try going to the Xbox support forums, and see if you can get an answer there. I'm sure someone will be able to help you with your account (I'm also pretty sure you don't have to create a new account for something like that.)

You can get there by going: Xbox Forums > Xbox Support

It's on the gray bar below the green main site bar. Good luck with recovering your account!

Remember always log in to your windows live ID regularly and never wait 90 days between signing in.

What region is my account and what can I do about it?

Your account region was set when you first set up your Gamertag and can be checked by going to https://billing.microsoft.com and clicking on “Personal Information”.

This is the wrong region!

If you currently live in one of the newly added LIVE enabled regions, you can perform a one-time region transfer on your account.

IMPORTANT: This region transfer is permanent and irreversible. Please make sure you pick the appropriate region and read all instructions before finalizing this transfer.

If your account region no longer matches your physical location and your country is not one of the newly added regions, you would have to create a new account to reflect your location. If you don’t currently live in a LIVE supported region then you may continue to experience issues with purchasing or downloading from the marketplace.

I made a mistake, can you change it for me?

Unfortunately there is no way for us to change regions on an account. Please see the above options for what you can do.

You will have to create a new account. You can't migrate your account from the UK .
