I have recently moved from australia to new zealand and took my trusty xbox with me. Everything going fine till i bought cod black ops. game plays on live but cannot download cod map packs because account registered in aus and account management will not give any option to change address unless its a different state in australia. Called support line who said only option was to buy another live account ( losing all dlc and gt ). I can still download lips music and other dlc but just not the cod map packs. Is this the same for other close countries? Canada/USA England/Wales Japan/Korea etc, or just us southerners. Is there a fix? Will there be a fix? Don't think i'll buy another account just to play cod, probably go to homefront or someone else instead.

yes this applies to ALL regions
the only option is to create a different account HOWEVER with the correct info for region locked content
as long as you keep the old account on the console you can still download and use the account and download purchased dlc
all dlc can be used by all profiles as long as the purchasing gamertag is signed in or on the purchasing console
2nd to take advantage of promotions you need to have an active creditcard in your region
other then using a prepaid australian membership card or ms points it is not possible to buy nz ms point cards on a australian account

In order to have the best experience on the marketplace, make sure that your account region and physical location match. Your account region was set when you first set up your Gamertag and can be checked by going to
https://billing.microsoft.com and clicking on “Personal Information”.
If you currently live in one of the newly added LIVE enabled regions, you can perform a one-time
region transfer on your account.
IMPORTANT: This region transfer is permanent and irreversible. Please make sure you pick the appropriate region and read all instructions before finalizing this transfer.
NZ is not a new xbox live region

Regarding nz ms points, have been putting them on my account and downloading music from lips and add ons for games but only cod has failed so far. thanks for your time!

are you sure they were prepaid NZ ms points some countrys do carry multi national points you need to take that up with the vender
(usually unsupported countries do that)
because prepaid MS points are region locked ALL OF THEM
and they cannot be redeemed in the wrong region accounts there is no IFs about it
redeeming a wrong region ms points in the incorrect region is a INVALID code error
you can purchase australian ms points online on your xbox with your australian account with an australian creditcard but you cannot buy prepaid nz ms points cards and put them on a australian account that comes back with invalid code error
(lower right corner will state the region)
nz ms points can be purchased as a prepaid card or on a nz account

Verify that your account region and physical location matches the region of code/content. For instance, if you purchased or received your code in the US, it will most likely not work for an account in Canada. You can check your account region by visiting

Hey I'm having the same problem except I came from America and moved to India and when I got done talking to the lady on xbox live support she said that u hav to create a new account in order to download the annilation map pack I'm quite upset and I hope there will be a region transfer avavble in india as well

Nope too many legal issues with making the tool widespread like removal of download rights from the original region
The best solution is not migration but creating a new account and buying the correct disk for your region

Someone broke into my account and changed the region from US to Brazil.
I can't change it back. Currently waiting for Microsoft to finish their investigation.

I've had my US XBL account for three years, and use it almost exclusively for XBLA content. Last week someone broke in and migrated it to Brazil. Everything I've been able to find online says that accounts can't be transferred out of Brazil (or any of eight other newer regions: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/Press/archive/2010/1012-LiveLaunches ).
Likewise, phone support technicians have been telling me that- while they're not actually part of the investigation- I "probably" won't get my original account back because of the region transfer.
I don't get it. Microsoft owns the entire service. How can it be impossible for them to transfer an account from one region to another? Hopefully I've just been getting a lot of misinformation.
I hope that you get your account transferred back, PurdeeRicky, and that you'll keep us informed as to the outcome.
