How can I download Windows 8 x64 German ISO

Hello There,

I purchased an HP laptop from Germany with pre-installed German Windows 8 64-bit. As usual it doesn't have recovery DVDs but a Recovery partition on the hard disk. Everything is fine and going well, but-

I am planning to remove the original hard disk and install an SSD instead. I therefore think if I can download a Windows 8 ISO that I can burn on DVD or USB and use it to install fresh n clean Windows 8 to my new SSD using the product key that I have received with pre-installed Windows 8 64-bit on my laptop. One possible way may be to make an image from my original HDD and restore it to new SSD, but I want a clean installation, I hate the useless software and utilities that come pre-installed.

I tried the "Windows 8 setup" utility, but when I enter my product key, it says "This product key cannot be used to install a retail version of windows 8".

In Summary
  • I have a Windows 8 laptop, which also gives me a Product Key for Windows 8 64-bit German
  • I want to have a relevant Windows 8 ISO, so I can use for clean installation on new SSD in same laptop
is it possible, if yes then how, please suggest how?

Thank You and regards

I strongly suggest you use the manufacturers recovery tools for reinstalling Windows 8.

What you can do is customize Windows 8 the way you want by removing the bundled applications and utilities you don't want, then create a recovery image point which you can restore on the new SSD.

Press Windows key + X

Click Programs and Features

Scroll through the list and uninstall what you don't want.

Proceed to create a recovery image point

Create a recovery image point:

From the Start screen, type

cmd, and then right-click the Command Prompt app and click "Run as administrator." Click through the UAC prompt. and at the command prompt type recimg /createimage C:\Recovery. The computer will churn for awhile as it writes the image to disk—it's not unusual for this process to take several hours, so give it time.

moving the restore image:

If in the future you'd like to move the

C:\Recovery directory elsewhere to save space on your main drive, you can; all you have to do after you move it is fire up another administrative command prompt window and type recimg /setcurrent [New directory name] to set a new path for the recovery image.

Also, note that while a refreshed PC will include all desktop applications you had installed at the time you made the image with

recimg, it will uninstall all desktop applications you've put on there since. If you'd like to update the image with new drivers or applications, just run recimg with the /createimage switch again.

Andre

Thanks for the quick answer sir, and sorry if I am being rude, but my question is short and clear...
and your answer doesn't addresses my question, what you are suggesting that I already knew and have hinted it in my question right away.

is it possible for me to download the Windows 8 ISO, if yes then how, please suggest how?

I remember I could do that ( iso download ) for Windows 7 and Vista as well.
