bootrec error element not found
I attempted to repair windows 7 using the bootrec command with the following steps. fixmbr completed successfully but the other commands give an error element not found. However scan os and rebuild bcd recognize the os but when I tried rebuild it gave
the same error. Is there anything else I can do or should I just cut my losses and rebuild all of my data that would be lost (which is a lot) I am running win7 hp 64 bit on a custom pc. Thanks for any ideas

I was having the same problem and this is what helped me.
Problem solved!!! Booted into windows and everything is fine!
problem 1. from "bootrec error - element not found" to "bootmgr is missing"
I made progress but still not there yet.
In diskpart i used select part and then made partition active.
Then rebooted and now it says something new
"bootmgr is missing." I used the win7 disk and now it does find my win7 installation. It still does not boot but progress has been made nonetheless.
problem 2. from "bootmgr is missing" to "problem solved"
Using win7 disk to get to cmd prompt I typed bcdboot C:\windows /l en-us "enter" and that fixed or replaced bootmgr.
Problem solved!!! Booted into windows and everything is fine!

This one definitely seems to have a fix. But it might require downloading some stuffs from the Internet. If you are ready to the take the risk..Then this is something sweet for your evening.
