Operation could not be completed (error 0x00000015). The device is not ready.
Now the error in the title line keeps appearing when I try to scan. Epson support won't help as they say its a Microsoft problem. Any suggestions appreciated.

Well i have found out a perfect way to solve this problem. It worked for me so I'll be hoping it works for you too
This is how you have to do it. You need to enable WIA - Windows Image Acquisition. now to do that follow these steps.
1. Click on start or the Window thingy.
2. Type Services or Services.msc in the search part.
3. Now scroll to the following services in the window that got opened.
Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
DCOM Server Process Launcher
RPC Endpoint Mapper
Shell Hardware Detection
Enable those services. To do so right click on them, click properties and make it automatic. Once you enable all of them start them. After all the services are started scroll for "Windows Image Acquisition" make this automatic too and start it. Just reboot
your PC and you should be good to roll :D.
Scan all you want :) Problem solved.

What happens if you just click OK and continue the scanning operation?
As according to the below provided article this error message can be safely ignored in case of a picture scanning operation -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2018464
Also the link for the driver I provided works for both Vista 32-bit and 64-bit operating system as stated by the Epson
website. The link directs to TWAIN Driver v3.04A for Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit Editions.
Hope this helps. Let us know the results.
